The Golf Club Karlovy Vary was founded in 1904 by the ‘Gentlemen’s Fencing Club’ with the objective of expanding the range of sporting activities available for guests visiting the spas. Originally a 9-hole course and was located on a 2.3 hectare piece of land that was in the area of today’s Gejzirpark (Geyser Park), on the southern outskirts of the City.

Due to the increasing popularity of the sport, discussions were initiated in 1928 on the possibility of constructing a brand new 18-hole golf course. As a result, the local city council asked Mr. F. Gross from the Inter-Club Country in Vienna for assistance in selecting the most suitable location within the vicinity of Karlovy Vary. Among the different available options, an area located near the small town of Olsova Vrata was eventually selected.

The course stretches over a hilly landscape at 600 metres above sea level. It requires good technique, since it has many narrow fairways lined by thick woods. Golfing beginners and golfers with a single handicap alike are bound to be fascinated by its beauty.

Todays course measures 6,226 metres with a par 72 and the club now boasts the largest golfl club membership in the Czech Republic. It’s a traditional parkland layout, which uses the natural undulating land to great effect. Each hole is flanked by a wide variety of mature deciduous and evergreen trees. Bunkering is light and the three water hazards rarely come into play.

The key to scoring well is positional play from the tee. The Czech Republic is undoubtedly steeped in history and the spa town of Karlovy Vary is romantic and enchanting. The classic Karlovy Vary is well worth its visit in its own right.

Club Terrace

The terrace has a unique location allowing guests to watch the game while relaxing. The outdoor terrace provides a breathtaking view of holes 1, 2, 3 and 18. The terrace was completely rebuilt and refurbished.

The terrace seats approximately 120 guests and hosts takes place the official announcement of the results during tournaments. Refreshments and cultural programs (fashion shows, live music, dance exhibitions, etc) accompany these announcements.

The Restaurant

Our restaurant seats 60 guests. Those who wish additional privacy can use our VIP Dining Room, which seats about 30 guests and can be separated from the main area of the restaurant. Or, stop by at our "19th hole" bar to get a cup of tea or coffee or perhaps just a quick snack. The bar has a capacity of 20 people.

First Floor Lounge

The lounge (with a capacity of 50 people) can be used throughout the day. A bar, a pool table and TV are available for guests. During our golf tournaments, this is usually the place reserved for those ladies who don’t play golf and who just come to accompany their partners. The lounge is just the spot to spend a relaxing day (manicures and pedicures are available).
