Designed by John Sanford, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the course meets American and European architectural standards for golf courses. The course provides an exciting game with various rolling elevations ranging from 4 to 70 meters above sea level. With five sets of tees on each hole, players have ample opportunity to improve their game or abide by their actual handicap level.
Three challenging lakes, as well as several sand bunkers, native desert areas, and elevated fairways will test players' abilities. Each hole has five sets of tees and three holes offer plays alongside the Red Sea's waves.
The first hole gently eases toward the vast mountain range which sets the scene for the first six holes. The sixth hole, in particular is a long uphill Par 5 with
three separate playing areas. From the seventh tee the course meanders through desert and rocks back down
to the splashing waves of the Red Sea.
Hole 12 is cradled by the mountains and is a feature of the back nine, challenging guests with careful placement of ten bunkers while at 640 yards the monstrous 14th is the longest championship hole in Egypt. The green of 17 and the tee of 18 lie less
than a small pitch from the water’s edge.
The gentle slopes of the fairways take full advantage of both sea and mountain views and the course offers an impressive 7100 yards between the 1st and 18th hole. The total course area cleverly spans the central section of the resort's overall property, linking the different hotels and beachfront.

About the De Monfreid
Built in 1996 in the Egyptian port city of Suez, the M.S. Henry de Monfreid is an authentic replica of the traditional Red Sea Dhow ship. The ship plans were drawn up following original drawings found in the Paris Marine Museum, Musée de la Marine à Paris. Measuring 23 metres, the Henry de Monfreid offers daily snorkelling trips to Farun Island under the management of Waterworld.
