The three courses are Campo Asia (Par 72), Campo America (Par 72) and Campo Europa (Par 71) are all carefully maintained all year round which ensures that they are all in prime condition; whatever the time of year it so happens to be. Campo America is perhaps more challenging than the shorter Campo Asia but both demand great accuracy from the tee and careful club section. The greens are undulating and well bunkered. The River Ojen plays a key part in making Campo Europa distinctive.
La Cala Resort is an exclusive residential and recreational estate of approximately 1,000 acres (4 million square metres), situated between the Sierra de Mijas Natural Park and the Mediterranean. Although located in a tranquil area, the resort is only 20 minutes from Marbella and 30 minutes from Malaga Airport.
The luxury spa was opened in spring 2006. It was developed in conjunction with Wheway Lifestyle International, one of the top spa design companies in the world. One of the unique features is the indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool. The 1,300 square metre spa also features an indoor exercise pool, an extensive range of thermal rooms, treatments, grooming studios and a solarium.

The Campo America
Campo America, formerly the North Course, measures some 5,987 metres and is a par 72, with five par 5s. The hilly topography requires a lot of carry across steep brush-covered side slopes. The wide fairways and rough areas and more "joined" fairways make this a slightly easier driving course than Campo Asia. In addition, there are fewer fairway bunkers.
There are water hazards on the 9th and 16th. Four of the par 5s are reachable in two (holes 1, 9, 15 and 18), and the par 3s are quite spectacular and testing. Campo America requires accurate and well-judged shot-making on the approach as nearly three quarters of the greens are perched or slightly elevated.
The Campo Asia
Campo Asia, (Par 72) formerly the South Course, is pretty spectacular. With plenty of challenging holes along the way, you are guaranteed a testing round of golf.
Water guards both greens at the 3rd and the 14th and in terms of a test of golf course strategy, the 18th couldn't be much better. Just remember not to over-club off the tee or this lengthy par 5 could well wreck your scorecard. This is an exciting course which puts a premium on the approach shot.
The Campo Europa
Campo Europa, (Par 71) was opened in March 2005. The fairways are generous from the tees and the greens are slightly larger than on the existing courses. They are not severely contoured but are well bunkered and will be easier for the average golfer. The par 71 course measures 6014 metres.
Course designer Cabell Robinson stresses the difference between the three courses: “The three courses in La Cala Resort are all very different in character. The new course is the most different of the three because of the river Ojen – the others are in the hills. They are three good challenges and none is over long. Yet they are all very different in character. It gives a great option to golfers to have three 18-hole courses to choose from.”

Hotel La Cala commands a central position between the three La Cala golf courses. The 107 bedrooms include five suites and boast breathtaking views across Campo Asia. Beautifully decorated, they maintain the traditional Audalusion architectural style whilst offering the luxury of a 5 star hotel.

La Cala de Mijas is one of the original fishing villages with its moorish tower now restored, a very popular town with many good restaurants, shops, beach and front bars.
Mijas is an upmarket and relatively quiet resort so don't come here expecting all night discos and karaoke bars! But you can drink and dine in the local bars and restaurants till late.
For a wilder night out you've got the big coastal resorts only a short distance away.
Mijas has various museums amongst which stand out the bullfighting one and the unusual museum of miniatures.
